New member and question

Post  Paul Treece on Wed Sep 24, 2008 2:35 pm

Hi All

I found this forum thru the mailing list so i hope it takes off. I discovered MB when I was about 13 or 14 as my mum had the 1st MB book as well as I Lucifer. I got as many of the others out of the local library as I could. Skip forward nearly thirty years (bloody hell 30 years !!!!! where did that time go......) thanks to ebay i'v just finished collecting all 13 books this year and read them again plus the ones I missed or that had not been written. MB is still a damn good read, but I was a bit disappointed at MB and WG being killed off.

So the question is if I want to start collecting the cartoon strips which is a good one to start with?

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul, glad to have you onboard!
Titan is reprinting most of the comics so they're probably the best place to start: http://www.titanbooks.com/categories/ca/universe-58-Modesty_Blaise/
and I think they're available for sale on Amazon - what country are you in?

And congrats on being the first to post a new topic to the forum. Very Happy

Hi Helen

Thanks for the link I'll have a look over the weekend, is there any one comic that you suggest or just go for the earliest.

I'm in the UK by the way, and you starting this forum hasn't half made the list busy.....

Hi Paul
I'm not an expert on the comics, in fact I own very few (came to the decision that I've already spent so much collecting books, I cannot let myself venture into comics, LOL), so this would definitely be a question to post to the list, if you want opinions ... and/or you can use the wonderful list Kent Hedlundh put together on his website (http://www.cs.umu.se/~kenth/modesty.html ; go to the MB comics page).

Looks like there aren't too many takers on the forum, so I'll probably let this run for a test period then see if it's worth having both or whether I should just shut this down...

Helen, the forum hasn't even started yet. These are early days!

Build it, and they will come. . .

It may take a while to take off, but there's nothing much happenning in the mailing list either.

There's been more discussion on the list over the past couple of days because you asked the question about the forum. Other than that, there has been nothing on the list lately.

I think the forum's a great idea, and definitely the way to go.

But it won't happen overnight.

But it's definitely the future.
