Welcome to the Modesty Blaise forum!

Post  Admin on Wed Sep 24, 2008 11:22 am

Hi everyone
I've set this up as there seemed to be problems with the MB mailing list lately (people couldn't join who wanted to, people couldn't leave, and the archives had gone missing) so I figured a forum would be a good way to go. We can give it a shot and see what happens...
Also, if this does work and everyone uses it, it would be great to have two or more people co-administering the forum so that if anyone's away/busy/etc. things don't grind to a halt (not that it should need much administration)... nor will the whole thing be 'lost' if one person goes incommunicado for any reason.

Anyone can view, read, and create/post replies to this forum, but security can be changed so that it's members-only... whichever works best for everyone.

If you'd like to receive emails when there are replies to any thread you're participating in, you need to register (it's a very simple process; just fill in, then it will send you a confirmation email, and you click the link). Once you're a member, go to Profile (up top), Preferences (second tab), and check 'Always Notify me of Replies'.

Let me know your thoughts! (just hit 'post reply' below)
Helen

Looks good

Looks good so far, though I'd advise keeping an eye out for spambot posts until you set up a registration system.

Cheers!

Thanks Alex!

I can make any or all of the forum sections members-only; I just didn't want to turn anyone away initially by the thought of "yet another thing I have to register for" (I know I'm well tired of registering at websites!) But yeah, as soon as there are any spam problems, it would have to go members-only...

Great!

BTW, the one thing I can't figure out with this forum is how to be notified by email of *all* new postings; only how to be notified of replies. If anyone else figures this out, can they let me know? Thanks!

This just had to come! Thanks Helen for making the effort!
I´m not a big poster on any forum but like to read a lot posts from other. So for sure will be regularly visiting here. Hope that it flies off well!
I do like the simplicity of a mailing list aswell... We should keep it alive too. To me a mailinglist is more personal than a forum where anybody can visit.
